I enjoyed the way that I can go on google reader and stay updated on all of my interests through just going to one page. It was interesting to see what type of things are posted on the subscriptions that I chose. At first I was having trouble because I was searching for new subscriptions through my google reader search bar instead of clicking the "add a subscription" button and searching through there. It is nice to be able to view everyone's blogger page and my wikispace through using RSS. I like it because it is so simple, just a news feed of any type of stuff or social network that you are interested in. The organization in which I am researching has a constant updated news feed on the homepage of my subscription. PETA does a good job on relaying what is currently happening within their organization. My overall experience so far with RSS has been going well. It is nice to be able to access all your personal social networking through one page. I suppose this would save a person time if they just wanted to stay updated on their subscriptions real quick.

FB and tweeting that twitter

Tweeting and blogging are similar in the fact of expressing how you may be feeling but it is a different way to express your feelings. When somebody tweets, they are saying short things about minimal stuff. While when you blog, it is much longer and has much more detail what is said.
 My experience with twitter is very minimal, I got a twitter a couple of months ago. I go on it once every couple of weeks to just check it out. I do not know much about how to use it, so it was nice exploring it a little more in depth for this class. When I do go on twitter I mainly am looking at Charlie Sheen and his latest WINNING experiences.
My experience with  facebook started when I graduated from high school and figured it would be a good time to get one in order to meet new friends in college. Since then I mainly use it to stay in touch with old friends and family. The only bad experience that I had with facebook was when I did not even have one. The morning of my lacrosse state championship my junior year in high school, someone decided to print of pictures of my team mates and I drinking that were on facebook. They proceeded to give the pictures to about five local newspapers, the school administration, and the police. Nothing came about it, but it just goes to show that people can get access to pictures that people may not think anything of and use them against whomever.
My privacy settings for facebook are, if you want to see my profile. You must be friends with me. I also have a few friends that I do not allow to see my status updates and posts. I made my Twitter public to anyone who wishes to follow because I am not saying anything on Twitter that requires privacy.
Looking through old posts and status updates on my facebook did not have much. I only found a few friends that swore when talking to me, which in unprofessional.



              

Wiki Space Noob

When setting up my wiki space, I was getting confused about my actual account and then making new pages (wiki spaces). I thought I had made two wiki space account but I actually had made my first wiki page and was unaware. I think it was because it said that I was a member on my own page, that through me off a little bit. Once I was able to differentiate the two, I had a pretty easy time customizing everything. I am impressed on how everything is quite straight forward and also about the video tutorials that were offered on how to use wiki space. I organized my page to what my favorite colors were and how I like the look of the layout through previewing them in the settings. It is different from my organization wiki because it was my first page ever so I was playing around with things and colors. Where as the organization wiki was my second so I new the general basics of what to do. Also, the organization page is for a group project, not myself. So I did not feel comfortable messing with too many settings without a group decision on how we would like to set up our page. I set my editing settings to private which means only members of the wiki can view and edit the page. I did this because I do not really have much to edit or view for the public. When I do have something on there I figure it would be class related and I would only allow class member and Bistra (of course) to see and edit, if need be.

Introduction

Well this is my second attempt at this whole blogging thing. I did my first post incorrectly due to my lack in reading directions... My name is Nick. I am from Duxbury, MA. I am an Applied Exercise Science major and hope to one day be an exercise physiologist. I enjoy doing things outside like going to the beach and hiking. I hope that this course will help me get a full understanding on what blogs are capable of.  Setting up my blog was not difficult at all. I enjoy the fact that we are able to costumize our blogs to our likings. There are tons of different things that you can do to design your blog and I think its a cool way to see what other bloggers are all about. Blogs can be used in the exercise science field due to the fact that the field is constantly changing and new studies are constantly proving old ones wrong. Blogs can help get caught up on the new cutting edge information out to people who work in and study the exercise science field. I did not touch really play with my privacy settings. I chose my layout because I really just did not want the default layout.

Flashing High Beams

The other day I was driving back from work going pretty fast trying to get to the beach. Next thing I know I have this car coming at me flashing their high beams, along with the person behind him. They did this to warn me that there is a cop up ahead with their radar gun out and for me to slow down. This got me thinking about how did flashing high beams become this sign that there are cops up ahead and to slow down? How did this become a normal thing to know when driving?

I enjoy that fact that the public has a signals to warn each other that the law up ahead. It can help others save a lot of money from getting tickets. Especially since now a days, cops hide in the most ridiculous spots where you are basically on top of them before you can even touch your breaks.
